Microsoft last week announced a number of new initiatives.  I want to focus on Windows here.  Windows 10 S is a new version of Windows designed for mainstream computers.  What does the S stand for? Literally no one knows. Microsoft even told different reporters different answers at the event.  So insert your shrug emoji here and move on.

Last week Apple showed off the new Apple Watch for the second time, announcing the full feature set, release date, pricing, etc.  As is the normal Apple way, they are not first to market, and an argument can be made that they aren’t even best on the market, but as usually happens with an Apple product, it grabs attention.

The price of the iPhone went up..... along with everything else

Along with the launch of the new Macbook and Apple Watch, Apple has quietly increased the price of the iPhone in Canada.  Each model is now $90 more to buy unlocked without a contract.  For those who have noticed, it stings a bit.  Many have accused Apple of raising prices simply because they can.  While you will get no argument from me that raising prices is never good for consumers, there are legitimate reasons for this, and unfortunately there is little we can do about it.

Welcome our new USB-C overlords

Phones, tablets, computers, (insert another one here), we all seem to have these now. Some of us more than one, and most have had different ones over the years.  Many people now have a drawer full of old cables for iPods, phones, laptops. One of the frustrating things over the years has been that so many of our battery powered things have different chargers and cables and few of them have worked together.  This has gotten better over the past 3-4 years with cell phones, most phones not made by apple all use the same micro USB connector, but if you have an iPhone or iPad that will use a different connector, and your laptop still has a connector that doesn't seem to work with anything else, even most other laptops.
