My Stuff
I’ve decided for part of this site that I will keep updated on the things I use every day. I won’t be posting every single peice of hardware and software I touch, or use once, but I figure if I keep a list here, people dont’ necessarily have to ask. I will try to add and delete things from this list as necessary.
Hardware
- Apple MacBook Pro 13.3″, June 2009 revision – To replace my netbook. Beautiful machine, very powerful. Sees constant use along with my desktop
- Logitech VX Nano – best small profile mouse I’ve ever had my hands on.
- iPod Touch 1st Generation, 32GB – all the iPhone goodness, without the monthly fee.
- iPod Classic 6th Generation, 80GB – spends most of it’s time in my car as the music source for my stereo.
- Zune 4, 4GB – good for around the house, and a backup music player
- JVC in ear headphones – paid $35 for them, not the best, but get the job done
- LG Rumour – Basic phone with qwerty keyboard for SMS. Waiting on a nicer phone for LTE to hit.
- Nintendo DS Lite – Fantastic gaming platform. Libraray that rivals the Super nintendo.
- Xbox 360 – Microsoft built a really good gaming console
- Nintendo Wii – What can I say, the Wii offers everything the Xbox doesn’t.
- Sony Playstation Portable – I have the first revision of the PSP. my DS sees more use, but the PSP is a good device
- Canon Powershot SD 870 IS – My camera. 8 Megapixel, good features, easy to use.
- Flip Mino HD – Very easy to use Point and shoot video camera with good video
Hardware – PC(for the geeks)
- Intel Core i7 920 Processor – Best bang for buck Core i7 processor
- EVGA X58 SLI Motherboard – X58 is a high end chipset, has all the bells and whistles
- Diamond ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB – When I bought it the 4870 was the best price/performance video card on the market
- 6GB Kingston DDR3 RAM running Triple Channel – 6GB is the defacto configuration for a Core i7 machine
- OCZ 650W Power Supply – good quality Power supply, runs everything without issue
- Antec P182 case – I love this case. Easy to work in, good cable management
- Microsoft Sidewinder X8 Wireless Gaming mouse – Fantastic gaming mouse, 2 weeks of battery life, easy to use.
- Apple Keyboard with Numberpad – I love the style of the Macbook keyboards, so I bought this to type on.
- Logitech Z3 speakers – 2.1 set, good quality
- Acer Monitor – 22″, 1680×1050 resolution
Software – PC
- Google Chrome – It’s like what firefox used to be, really fast, minimal. I don’t use extensions.
- iTunes – I actually dont’ mind it as an audio player
- Zune – Another good audio player, and used to sync Zune
- Windows Live Messenger – I like the features in the official client
- Windows Live Photo Gallery – I much prefer this over Picasa as a photo organizer
- Windows Live Writer – for writing posts on this here blog.
- Seesmic Desktop – Used for Twitter and Facebook viewing. I prefer it to Tweetdeck
- Microsoft Office 2007 – Dont’ need it very often, but for when I do, Office really is the best productivity suite made right now.
- Microsoft OneNote 2007 – Fantastic note-taking app, has replaced Evernote for me, as it has many more features. I sync the save files using Live Mesh so I’m working with the same notes on every PC.
- Paint .NET – for photo editing. Good free option.
- Handbrake – for ripping DVD’s to pretty much anything. Use in conjunction with DVD Decrypter
Sofware – OS X
- Safari 4 – Better than Firefox on OS X, in my opinion
- iTunes – by default
- Adium – Best IM client for the Mac, with multi-protocol support
- Tweetie – for Twitter
- ecto – very good blogging software.
- VMWare fusion – for Windows virtualization
- Handbrake – for ripping DVD’s and video file conversion
- iLife suite – I use iPhoto mostly right now, to grab photos from my camera
Web – I wasnt’ sure if I wanted to make a “web app” category, but I think for some things I should
- gmail – email.
- Google Reader – RSS aggregator. Transformed my ability to read the news
- google calendar – activesync to iPod touch make this a killer app
- Google Maps – otherwise I’d be lost
- google docs – for the limited actual document creation I do
- Photosho Express – light photo editing on the go from any browser
- Meebo.com – web based IM
- The Backloggery – for tracking my game library
